We must move immediately into the present if we want to create a healthy place for our kids and future generations.
Rather than simply ignoring climate change, I will include environmental science and engineering into city planning. The city currently has an official Climate Action Plan. It’s only a start and already needs our attention to make it more relevant and impactful.
I will suggest the following simple steps to help our community grow greener:
1: Tax incentives for businesses and residents to build and operate in an environmentally friendly way.
2: Work regionally to meet climate action goals.
3: Further explore Agritourism in the city as a way to maintain our green spaces while increasing revenue.
4: Implement neighborhood traffic calming steps to make it safer for kids, families, seniors, bicyclists, skateboarders, and others who choose to get out of their cars and use active transportation.
